Alton Towers is a fifteen minute drive away and is available from mid- March through to mid-November. The park opens at 9.30 am each day and, for the fearless, offers white-knuckle excitement of major rides like Oblivion, Nemesis, Air and Rita- Queen of Speed. Younger visitors may prefer Willy Wonka`s Chocolate Factory and the latest Springy Cobweb Climbing Zone in "The Dungheap".

The Cariba Creek waterpark, also based at Alton Towers offers a bewildering array of pools, slides, flumes, Jacuzzis and children`s attractions and is worth a days visit itself.

The Potteries Stoke-on-Trent is home to some of the most famous names in pottery and ceramics, Spode, Wedgewood, Moorcroft, Royal Doulton and many others still produce locally and have factory outlets offering generous discounts and factory tours. For those with more general interest in the industry there is the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery and the Gladstone Pottery Museum where, amongst other interactive attractions you can try your hand at throwing your own pot.

The Peak District

Manifold valley and the Staffordshire Moorlands offer the opportunity for fabulous walking for the more adventurous. We are also close to the Churnet Valley with its steam railway and scenic riverside and canal walks. Many families decide to drop the kids off at Alton Towers whilst the adults spend the day walking. We can offer advice on local walks and places of natural beauty if you wish.

 

 

 

 

 

Dining Out

We do not generally provide evening meals although, if after a busy day, you would prefer to order take-away food you are very welcome to use the guest dining room. There are a number of restaurants and pubs in walking distance of the guest house. Most are family friendly, at least during the early part of the evening and we are happy to offer advice and directions. If you are planning a special meal for an anniversary or other celebration please let us know at the time of booking. There are a number of lovely restaurants but reservations may be required and we can provide you with the necessary phone numbers.

Festival Park in Hanley offers Waterworld, ten-pin bowling, dry-ski slopes and Multi-screen cinema in addition to all the major fast-food outlets.
